Unexpected Beauty, Street Views Reception Downtown February 5

Unexpected Beauty, Street Views is a response to an Open Call to Artists invited to submit works emphasizing a fresh perspective of the gritty realities of street life in the city.
Sales from the exhibit benefit Street Yoga, a local non-profit that teaches yoga and wellness to at-risk youth.
Portland artists Becca Bernstein, Shawn Demarest and Gene Gill are among thirty artists to submit work to the show showcases works from both emerging and veteran artists. Bernstein was selected by Southwest Art Magazine in 2008 as one of 21 emerging artists to watch. Gill is an acclaimed veteran painter whose art career has spanned decades. Demarest is a noted alla prima painter who often paints urban landscape "in real time".
